A ₹149.28-crore drinking water project in Manigaon under Binika block of Subarnapur district has come under scrutiny as residents allege that water has still not reached their homes. Pipes, standposts, a pump house and electricity connections are in place, but many taps reportedly remain dry. According to the project information cited in the report, the scheme was intended to provide drinking water to villages across Binika and Dunguripali blocks, covering 119 villages, with funding shared between the Centre and the State. Work began in 2019 and was completed in December 2021, but residents say the project has not delivered water to Manigaon. They have alleged irregularities in the project and warned of protests if the issue is not resolved. Binika RWSS JE Biswanath Hansda said new pipes would be laid to complete the work, while Binika BDO Sarat Bag assured that the problem would be resolved within a week. The allegations are subject to official verification.
