A vending zone near Manchamukhi Hanuman Temple in Khannagar, Cuttack, is reportedly lying largely unused years after its construction. The facility has 64 shops and was built around a decade ago after lakhs of rupees were spent on the project. However, most shops remain locked, with only a few reportedly operational.
Traders say the shops are too small, located around eight feet below the main road and prone to waterlogging even after light rain. They also claim there is no proper arrangement for clean drinking water, making the location unattractive for business. The report further says some shops have been encroached upon and the unused premises have allegedly become gathering spots for anti-social elements.
