Bhubaneswar: Rented Self-Drive Car Stolen, CCTV Helps Police Nab Accused

କାର୍ ଭଡ଼ା ନେଲା… ଚୋରି କଲା । ନମ୍ବର ପ୍ଲେଟ୍ ରେ କଳା ଟେପ୍ ଲଗାଇ ପୋଲିସକୁ ଚକମା ଦେବାକୁ ବି ଚେଷ୍ଟା କଲା। ହେଲେ ଚୋରର ଚାଲ୍ ଧରିଦେଲା CCTV । ରାଜଧାନୀରେ ସେଲ୍ଫ ଡ୍ରାଇଭ୍ କାର୍ ଭଡ଼ା ନେଇ ଗାଡ଼ି ଚୋରି କରିଥିବା ଅଭିଯୁକ୍ତକୁ କାବୁ କରିଛି ଚନ୍ଦକା ଥାନା ପୁଲିସ। ଚୋରି ପରେ ଗାଡ଼ିର ନମ୍ବର ପ୍ଲେଟ୍ ରେ କଳା ଟେପ୍ ଲଗାଇ ପରିଚୟ ଲୁଚାଇଥିଲା ମନଦୀପ ଚୌଧୁରୀ। କିନ୍ତୁ CCTV ଫୁଟେଜ୍ ରେ ତା’ର ଚେହେରା କଏଦ ହୋଇଯାଇଥିଲା। ଫୁଟେଜ୍ ରୁ ମିଳିଥିବା ଫଟୋକୁ ରେଣ୍ଟାଲ୍ ସର୍ଭିସ୍ ର ତଥ୍ୟ ସହ ମିଳାଇ ଅଭିଯୁକ୍ତକୁ ଚିହ୍ନଟ କଲା ପୁଲିସ। ଅଗଷ୍ଟ ୨୦ରେ ଗାଡ଼ିକୁ ଠାବ କରିବା ପରେ ବିଭିନ୍ନ ସ୍ଥାନରେ ଚଢ଼ାଉ କରି ଅନୁଗୋଳ ଟୁରଙ୍ଗ ଅଞ୍ଚଳର ମନଦୀପକୁ ଗିରଫ କରାଯାଇଛି। ପୂର୍ବରୁ ମଧ୍ୟ ତା’ ନାଁରେ ଲିଙ୍ଗରାଜ, ଭରତପୁର ଓ ଖଣ୍ଡଗିରି ଥାନାରେ ୪ଟି ଅପରାଧିକ ମାମଲା ଥିବା ଜଣାପଡ଼ିଛି।

A man allegedly rented a self-drive car in Bhubaneswar and later stole the vehicle, even putting black tape over its number plate in an alleged attempt to conceal its identity. Chandaka Police arrested the accused, identified as Mandeep Choudhury from Turanga area of Angul. CCTV footage reportedly captured his face, following which police matched the image with rental-service records to identify him. After the vehicle was traced on August 20, police conducted raids at different locations and arrested Mandeep. Police also found that four criminal cases had previously been registered against him at Lingaraj, Bharatpur and Khandagiri police stations.
