Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati has directed vice-chancellors of state government universities to complete the faculty recruitment process by November. A meeting on teacher recruitment was held at Lok Bhavan under the Governor’s chairmanship, attended by the Higher Education Minister, the department commissioner, and vice-chancellors and registrars of various government universities. The Governor said filling vacant faculty posts after the appointment of vice-chancellors is now a major challenge and stressed the need for a clear deadline for recruitment. He also said merit must be given priority in teacher appointments and that there should be no compromise on quality and merit. The focus of the meeting was on expediting faculty recruitment in state-run universities. The official Odisha Governor Secretariat uses the spelling “Lok Bhavan” for the Governor’s office.
