ବଙ୍ଗଳୀମାନେ ମାଛ ପ୍ରିୟ। ଏକଥା ସମସ୍ତେ ଜାଣନ୍ତି। କିନ୍ତୁ ମାଛଖିଆ ଯେ ଦିନେ ରାଜନୈତିକ ପ୍ରସଙ୍ଗ ପାଲଟିବ, ଏକଥା କେହି ହୁଏତ ଭାବିନଥିବେ । ଆପଣ ନିକଟରେ ଗୋଟିଏ ଭିଜୁଆଲ୍ ଦେଖିଥିବେ। ସାମ୍ନାରେ ଭୋଗଥାଳି - ବାସନ୍ତୀ ପଲଉ, ମାଛ ଭଜା ଓ ମାଛମୁଣ୍ଡ। ଆଉ ସେହି ଥାଳି ଆଗରେ ବସିଛନ୍ତି ପଶ୍ଚିମବଙ୍ଗ ମୁଖ୍ୟମନ୍ତ୍ରୀ ଶୁଭେନ୍ଦୁ ଅଧିକାରୀ। ମାଛ ଖାଉଛନ୍ତି, କିନ୍ତୁ ତାଙ୍କ ପ୍ଲେଟ୍ ରେ କେବଳ ମାଛ ନାହିଁ - ରହିଛି ଧାର୍ମିକ ପରମ୍ପରା, ବଙ୍ଗାଳୀ ଅସ୍ମିତା ଏବଂ ବିଜେପିର ଜଟିଳ ରାଜନୈତିକ ଅଙ୍କ।
ବିବାଦର ଆରମ୍ଭ ହୋଇଥିଲା ମଧ୍ୟପ୍ରଦେଶ ବାଗେଶ୍ୱର ଧାମର ମୁଖ୍ୟ ପୂଜକ ଧୀରେନ୍ଦ୍ର ଶାସ୍ତ୍ରୀଙ୍କ ଏକ ମନ୍ତବ୍ୟରୁ। ବାଗେଶ୍ୱର ବାବା ଭାବେ ପରିଚିତ ଧୀରେନ୍ଦ୍ର ଶାସ୍ତ୍ରୀ ପଶ୍ଚିମବଙ୍ଗର ହାୱଡ଼ା ଆସିଥିଲେ। ସେ ହିନ୍ଦୁମାନଙ୍କୁ ଦୁର୍ଗାପୂଜା ସମୟରେ ମାଛ ଓ ମାଂସ ଖାଇବାରୁ ଦୂରେଇ ରହିବାକୁ ଆହ୍ୱାନ ଦେଇଥିଲେ। ଏପରିକି ନବରାତ୍ରି ସମୟରେ ଆମିଷ ବିକ୍ରି ନିଷେଧ କରିବାକୁ ଅପିଲ୍ କରିଥିଲେ। ପୂଜା ସମୟରେ ଆମିଷ ଖାଉଥିବା ଲୋକଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ ସେ ‘ପାଖଣ୍ଡୀ’ ଶବ୍ଦ ବ୍ୟବହାର କରିଥିବା ନେଇ ଗଣମାଧ୍ୟମରେ ଖବର ପ୍ରକାଶିତ ହୋଇଛି। ଏହି ଗୋଟିଏ ଶବ୍ଦ ହିଁ ବଙ୍ଗର ରାଜନୀତି ଓ ସାଂସ୍କୃତିକ ଭାବନାରେ ନିଆଁ ଲଗାଇଦେଇଛି।

Fish has long been closely associated with Bengali food culture, but its place during religious festivals has now become a political talking point in West Bengal. The controversy began after Bageshwar Dham chief priest Dhirendra Shastri, during his visit to Howrah, urged Hindus to avoid fish and meat during Durga Puja and appealed for a ban on the sale of non-vegetarian food during Navratri. Reports also said he used the term ‘Pakhandi’ for those who eat non-vegetarian food during the festival. The remarks have sparked a debate involving religious traditions, Bengali identity and the BJP’s political calculations, with Shubhendu Adhikari’s fish-eating visuals adding another layer to the controversy.
