Elephant herds have been roaming in the Champua forest range of Keonjhar district, triggering panic among local residents. The Kanpur Canal has become an obstacle for the elephants. Near Silipunji-Gidhibasa, one elephant was seen falling into the canal and struggling to climb out. After a considerable time, the elephant reportedly managed to get out of the canal. The Forest Department is keeping a close watch on the movement of the elephant herds.
