Hundreds of Habisyalis arrived in Puri, also known as Srikshetra, early this morning during the holy month of Kartik and reached Vrundabati Niwas without registration. With no accommodation available for them at the camp, the devotees reportedly spent the night awake and sat outside instead of proceeding for darshan of Mahaprabhu Shri Jagannath. Allegations have emerged that water was sprayed on them on the administration’s instructions and that police personnel held them by their arms, dragged them and pushed them around. The incident has left the Habisyalis in tears, raising concerns over the arrangements for devotees observing Kartik rituals in Puri. These are allegations reported in the source; no official response is mentioned.
