India Wins First Athletics Medal at Asian Games

ଏସିଆନ ଗେମ୍ସରେ ଇତିହାସ ରଚିଲେ ଆଥଲେଟ୍ ସୀମା କୁମାରୀ। ୧୦ ହଜାର ମିଟର ଦୌଡ଼ ଇଭେଣ୍ଟରେ ସୀମା କୁମାରୀଙ୍କୁ ବ୍ରୋଞ୍ଜ ମିଳିଛି। ଏହା ସହ ଚଳିତ ଏସୀୟ କ୍ରୀଡ଼ା ସଂସ୍କରଣରେ ଆଥଲେଟିକ୍ସରେ ଭାରତ ପାଇଁ ପ୍ରଥମ ପଦକ ଆଣିଛନ୍ତି ସୀମା କୁମାରୀ। ସେପଟେ ମିକ୍ସଡ ରିଲେରେ ଭାରତ ହାସଲ କରିଛି ରୌପ୍ୟ ପଦକ। ୪ ଗୁଣା ୪୦୦ ମିକ୍ସଡ ରିଲେ ରେସରେ ଭାରତ ରୌପ୍ୟ ପଦକ ପାଇଛି। ବାହାରିନ ପଛକୁ ଭାରତ ଦ୍ବିତୀୟ ସ୍ଥାନରେ ରହିଛି। ବିଦ୍ୟା ରାମରାଜ, ବିଶାଲ ଟିକେ, ଏମ. ଆର. ପୋଭାମ୍ମା ଓ ମନୁ ଟିଏସଙ୍କ ଟିମକୁ ଏହି ଇଭେଣ୍ଟରେ ରୌପ୍ୟ ପଦକ ମିଳିଛି।

Athlete Seema Kumari created history at the Asian Games by winning a bronze medal in the women’s 10,000-metre race, bringing India its first athletics medal of this edition. India also secured a silver medal in the mixed relay. The Indian team finished second behind Bahrain in the 4x400 mixed relay race. The silver-winning team comprised Vidya Ramraj, Vishal Tike, M. R. Poovamma and Manu TS.
