Rituals at Shree Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar were disrupted after a dispute between the Brahmin Nijog and Pujapanda Nijog over the performance of the Panchabatra/Panchachakra ritual and Pushpanjali. Following the dispute, some rituals remained halted from the previous night until noon. A meeting called by the temple Executive Officer at 11 am reportedly saw a scuffle and pushing between the two groups. A second meeting, chaired by the ADM and Lingaraj Temple administrator, continued for around three hours with the Brahmin, Pujapanda and Badu Nijogs, but no agreement was reached. The Executive Officer said some rituals remained suspended and another meeting would be held. The dispute concerns service rights over the Panchachakra ritual, which had traditionally been performed by the Pujapanda Nijog.
