Mahanadi Flood Alert: Minor Flood Likely in Branch Rivers, More Hirakud Gates May Open

ମହାନଦୀରେ ଆସୁଛି ଛୋଟ ବନ୍ୟା। ଶାଖା ନଦୀ କାଠଯୋଡ଼ି, କୁଆଖାଇ, ଦେବୀ, କୁଶଭଦ୍ରା ଓ ଦୟା ନଦୀରେ ବନ୍ୟା ଆସିବ। ଜଳ ସଂପଦ ବିଭାଗ ସର୍ବୋଚ୍ଚ ଯନ୍ତ୍ରୀଙ୍କ ସୂଚନା ପରେ ଛନକା ପଶିଛି। ଚଳିତ ବର୍ଷ ମହାନଦୀରେ ଏହା ଚତୁର୍ଥ ଛୋଟ ଧରଣର ବନ୍ୟା । ଛତିଶଗଡ଼ରେ ଲଗାଣ ବର୍ଷା ଯୋଗୁଁ ଜଳସ୍ତର ବଢ଼ିଛି। ହୀରାକୁଦ ଜଳଭଣ୍ଡାରରୁ ୨୪ଟି ଗେଟ୍ ଦେଇ ବନ୍ୟା ଜଳ ନିଷ୍କାସନ ହେଉଛି। ଆବଶ୍ୟକ ପଡ଼ିଲେ ଆସନ୍ତାକାଲି ଆହୁରି କିଛି ଗେଟ୍ ଖୋଲାଯାଇପାରେ।
A minor flood is likely in the Mahanadi and its branch rivers, including Kathajodi, Kuakhai, Devi, Kushabhadra and Daya. The Water Resources Department has issued an alert as water levels rise due to continuous rainfall in Chhattisgarh. Floodwater is currently being released through 24 gates of the Hirakud reservoir, and more gates may be opened tomorrow if required. This is expected to be the fourth minor flood in the Mahanadi this year.
