A cyclonic circulation has formed near the South Andaman Sea and is expected to develop into a low-pressure area on October 13. Under its influence, light to moderate rainfall is likely in coastal Odisha and adjoining interior areas between October 16 and 18.
Meteorologist Biswajit Sahu said the system may remain limited to a low-pressure area or a well-marked low-pressure area due to less favourable oceanic and atmospheric conditions. The chances of further intensification are low, and there is no cyclone threat to Odisha, according to the report.
Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Cuttack, Khordha, Puri, Ganjam and Gajapati may receive comparatively more rainfall, particularly on October 17 and 18. Heavy rainfall is less likely in western Odisha, while relatively dry weather is more likely during Dussehra.
