A major child rescue operation has brought relief to families as Crime Branch’s ‘Operation Anveshan’ was conducted across 17 states to trace missing children. A total of 101 children were rescued, including 52 boys and 48 girls as stated in the source, with Kolkata accounting for the highest number of rescues at 30. Among those rescued were two very young children, aged three months and one year.

The operation highlights the serious threat posed by networks allegedly kidnapping children and forcing them into begging, sexual exploitation and other criminal activities. The source also states that nearly 24,000 missing-child cases were registered in Odisha over the past five years.
