The sea has crossed its shores at Satabhaya in Kendrapara district, swallowing the last remains of the old Maa Panchubarahi temple. Heavy rain under the influence of a low-pressure area, along with high tides in the sea, reportedly caused the remnants of the historic temple to be pulled into the sea. The development has brought renewed attention to the coastal erosion faced by Satabhaya. The source states that, due to the sea crossing its shores amid climate change, seven villages of Satabhaya have already been swallowed by the sea.
