Rice sacks weighing 50 kg are supplied from FCI godowns, but by the time they reach schools and Anganwadi centres, around 5 kg of rice is allegedly missing from each sack. The rice supplied for children under the Mid-Day Meal scheme is allegedly being siphoned off during transportation, with some unscrupulous individuals accused of stealing it. Visuals of alleged rice theft recently surfaced from Gajapati and Koraput districts, following which the district administrations ordered investigations into the incidents.
