Police and the Transport Department have stepped up action in the capital following violence involving online cab and auto drivers. A bulldozer was deployed at an illegal auto stand at Master Canteen, while notices have been issued to drivers and vehicle owners who participated in the agitation. Police have seized more than 350 vehicles and arrested 113 people, who have been sent to Jharpada Jail. The Urban Development Minister said auto drivers would have to compensate for the damage caused in the city. Meanwhile, the incident has triggered a political row, with reactions coming from different quarters over the violence and the subsequent crackdown.
