କୁମାରଖୁଣ୍ଟିରେ ହାତୀ ପାଠଶାଳା। ଉଠ କହିଲେ ଉଠୁଛନ୍ତି, ବସ୍ କହିଲେ ବସୁଛନ୍ତି। ହାତ ବଢ଼ାଇଲେ କରୁଛନ୍ତି ହ୍ୟାଣ୍ଡସେକ୍। ଆଶୀର୍ବାଦ ବି ଦେଉଛି ହାତୀ। ଏମାନେ ମଣିଷ ଛୁଆ ନୁହଁନ୍ତି, ହାତୀ ଛୁଆ। ମଣିଷ ସ୍ପର୍ଶର ଗନ୍ଧ ବାରିଲେ ଅଲଗା କରିଦିଏ ମାଆ, ଏବେ କିନ୍ତୁ ମଣିଷ ସହିତ ଜୀବନ ବିତାଉଛି ହାତୀ ଛୁଆ। କେତେବେଳେ ପାଦ ଟେକି ଦେଉଛନ୍ତି, ଆଉ କେତେବେଳେ ଗୋଡ଼ ଭାଙ୍ଗି ବସି ପଡୁଛନ୍ତି। କିଏ ମା ଠାରୁ ଦୂରେଇଛନ୍ତି ଆଉ କିଏ ଗୋଠ ଖଣ୍ଡିଆ ହୋଇଛନ୍ତି।... କୁନି ହାତୀ ଜଗନ୍ନାଥ। ଶ୍ରଦ୍ଧାରେ ତାକୁ ଡାକୁଛନ୍ତି ଜଗା। 7 ବର୍ଷ ହେବ ମା ଠାରୁ ଦୂରେଇ ଯାଇଛି। ଏବେ କୁମାରଖୁଣ୍ଟିରେ ପ୍ରଶିକ୍ଷଣ ନେଉଛି। ଆଉ ଏ ହେଉଛି କାର୍ତ୍ତିକ। ମାହୁନ୍ତର ବୋଲ ମାନୁଛି। ସେପଟେ ହାତୀ ପାଠଶାଳାରେ ଦେଖିବାକୁ ମିଳିଛି ପ୍ରେମକାହାଣୀ।
At the elephant training centre in Kumarakhunti, young elephants are learning to respond to commands, sit, shake hands and even offer blessings. These calves, separated from their mothers or herds, are now being trained and cared for by mahouts. Seven-year-old elephant Jagannath, lovingly called Jaga, has been away from his mother for years, while another elephant named Kartik follows his mahout’s commands. Amid the training and human-elephant bond, a unique love story has also emerged at the elephant school.
