Odisha’s newly appointed Governor Brajamohan Ram arrived in Bhubaneswar and received a guard of honour at the airport. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy, Cabinet Ministers Prithviraj Harichandan and Mukesh Mahaling, and Chief Secretary Anu Garg welcomed him. Ram is scheduled to take oath at Lok Bhavan at 11 AM tomorrow. He also visited Puri to seek the blessings of Lord Shree Jagannath after arriving in Odisha.

A 68-year-old leader from Jharkhand, Ram has served as an MP three times and as an MLA once. His responsibilities as Governor include upholding constitutional traditions, maintaining coordination between the state government and Opposition, strengthening Centre-state relations, and overseeing reforms in higher education as Chancellor of universities.

Political observers say working within constitutional boundaries while safeguarding Odisha’s interests will be a key priority. Expectations from Dalit and Adivasi communities, university reforms and the controversy surrounding his remarks on the BJP organisation will also draw attention as he begins his tenure.
