A unique ritual at Barala Balunkeswar Temple in Odisha's Puri district is drawing devotees, as temple servitors begin the traditional excavation of sacred soil believed to hold divine blessings. Accompanied by traditional music and elaborate rituals, the soil is collected, dried and later processed into sacred ash for Lord Shiva before being offered to devotees during Dussehra.
