Strong winds and heavy rain damaged the 80-foot Maa Gajalaxmi Puja mandap at Club Town ground in the capital city, Bhubaneswar. Organised by the North Bhubaneswar Yuvak Sangha Gaja Laxmi Puja Committee, the pandal's structure and a massive decorative entrance arch collapsed between 11:45 am and noon on Wednesday.

The incident occurred while rituals, including Maa Gajalaxmi's Shodasha Upachara Puja, were underway following the morning Surya Puja. Strong gusts first brought down the illuminated entrance gate, prompting the priest and committee members to rush out. The main arch collapsed shortly afterwards. No injuries have been reported.

An electric wire behind the arch has also fallen. Efforts are underway to remove the collapsed structure from the idol using a crane. The priest and committee members shared details of the incident.
