Woman’s Body Kept for Over 30 Hours as Village Denies Cremation Ground After Religious Conversion

ଅନ୍ୟ ଧର୍ମ ଗ୍ରହଣ କରିଥିବାରୁ ମୃତ୍ୟୁ ପରେ ଶବ ସତ୍କାରକୁ ନେଇ ବିବାଦ। ପ୍ରାୟ 30 ଘଣ୍ଟାରୁ ଊର୍ଦ୍ଧ୍ୱ ସମୟ ଧରି ଘରେ ପଡ଼ିରହିଛି ମହିଳାଙ୍କ ମୃତଦେହ । ନବରଙ୍ଗପୁର ଜିଲ୍ଲା କୁନ୍ଦେଇ ଥାନା ଅଡଣ୍ଡି ଗାଁରେ ଦେଖିବାକୁ ମିଳିଛି ଏ ଅଭାବନୀୟ ଘଟଣା। ମୃତା ମହିଳା ହେଲେ 60 ବର୍ଷୀୟ ଗାଗିରି ଗଣ୍ଡ । ପୋଲିସ ଓ ସ୍ଥାନୀୟ ପ୍ରଶାସନ ଘଟଣା ସ୍ଥଳରେ ରହି ବୁଝାସୁଝା ଜାରି କରିଥିଲେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଗାଁର ହିନ୍ଦୁ ଧର୍ମାବଲମ୍ବୀ ମାନେ ଗାଁ ମଶାଣିରେରେ ଜାଗା ଦେବୁନାହିଁ ବୋଲି ଜିଦ ଧରିିଥିଲେ। ପରେ ଅନେକ ସମୟର ବୁଝା ସୁଝା ପରେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଘଟଣାର ସମାଧାନ ହୋଇ ପାରିନଥିଲା। ଶେଷରେ ପଡୋଶୀ ରାଜ୍ୟ ଛତିଶଗଡର କେସକାଲଠାରେ ଉକ୍ତ ସମ୍ପ୍ରଦାୟର ସ୍ମଶାନରେ ମୃତ ମହିଳାଙ୍କ ସବକୁ ସତ୍କାର କରାଯିବ ବୋଲି ନିଷ୍ପତି ହୋଇଥିଲା। ଅଡ଼ଣ୍ଡି ଗ୍ରାମର ମୃତ ମହିଳାଙ୍କ ପରିବାର ଗତ କିଛି ବର୍ଷ ହେଲା ହିନ୍ଦୁଧର୍ମ ଛାଡି ଅନ୍ୟଧର୍ମ ଗ୍ରହଣ କରିଥିଲେ।

A dispute over the last rites of a 60-year-old woman has surfaced in Adandi village under Kundhei Police Station in Nabarangpur district. The woman, identified as Gagiri Gand, died after her family had reportedly converted from Hinduism to another religion a few years ago. Her body remained at home for more than 30 hours as Hindu residents of the village allegedly refused to allow the family to use the village cremation ground. Police and local administration remained at the spot and held discussions to resolve the issue, but the dispute could not be settled. Finally, it was decided that the woman’s last rites would be performed at the cemetery of her community in Keskal, Chhattisgarh.
