After the US Congress passed a Russia sanctions bill that could lead to tariffs of up to 100%, India has made it clear that it is firmly committed to taking all necessary measures to protect its trade and economic interests. India has also reiterated its commitment to ensuring energy security for its 1.4 billion people and said oil imports from diversified sources will continue based on market conditions. The Ministry has stated that high-level discussions have been held with US representatives in recent months over India’s oil trade with Russia.
