The Chandini Chowk Puja Committee in Kataka (Cuttack) will offer fish as bhog to Maa Durga on Mahanavami. Preparations are underway at the puja mandap, where fish weighing around 12 quintals is being cooked for the ritual offering.
Along with fish, a sour preparation known as khatta is also being prepared using leafy greens, water pumpkin used in the sacrificial ritual, jaggery and other ingredients. These traditional offerings will be presented to the goddess as part of the Mahanavami rituals.
The preparations highlight the distinctive ritual traditions followed by the Chandini Chowk Puja Committee during Durga Puja.
