More than 100 elderly people from Dihagaon Panchayat under Daspalla block have allegedly gone without old-age pension payments for three months. Expressing their distress, they staged a sit-in outside the BDO office, spreading mats and bedding on the ground and breaking down in tears.
The protesting elderly residents said they would not call off their agitation until they received their pension money.
When asked about the delay, the Daspalla BDO did not respond on camera but said the old-age pensions would be disbursed soon.
