A 1-minute-42-second video by IPS officer Bushra Bano, in which she spoke about her success and civil-services journey, has triggered a political controversy in West Bengal. The video included expressions such as “Assalamu Alaikum” and “Inshallah”, following which objections and social-media criticism emerged. The following day, Bano was transferred from her post as Additional SP, Kharagpur. The official transfer order cited “public interest” and did not publicly mention the video as the reason for the move. The timing of the controversy and transfer has since led to political reactions and a wider debate.
