କିଛି ଶୈଶବ ଜଙ୍ଗଲରେ ବଢ଼େ…କିଛି ଶୈଶବ ମଣିଷଙ୍କ ମେଳରେ । ହେଲେ ଏମାନେ ? ଜଙ୍ଗଲରୁ ଦୂରରେ…ମା’ଠାରୁ ଦୂରରେ…ନିଜ ଦୁନିଆଠାରୁ ଦୂରରେ । ଦିନେ ହାତରେ ଥିଲା ମା’ର ଆଙ୍ଗୁଠି…ଆଜି ସେହି ହାତରେ କଣ୍ଢେଇ । ମା’ ଛାତିରେ ମୁଣ୍ଡ ରଖି ଶୋଇବା ବୟସରେ, ଏମାନେ ଏବେ ବନ୍ଦ ଘର ଭିତରେ । ପାଞ୍ଚଟି କୁନି ଜୀବନ…ଜାଣନ୍ତି ନାହିଁ ହରାଇବା କ’ଣ…କିନ୍ତୁ…ହରାଇ ସାରିଛନ୍ତି ନିଜ ମା’କୁ, ନିଜ ଦୁନିଆକୁ । ବୟସ ଖୁବ୍ କମ୍…କିନ୍ତୁ ଜୀବନ ଏମାନଙ୍କୁ ବୋଧେ ଶୀଘ୍ର ବଡ଼ କରିଦେଇଛି । ବାଲେଶ୍ୱର ଭୋଗରାଇରୁ ଉଦ୍ଧାର ହୋଇ ନନ୍ଦନକାନନରେ ଆଶ୍ରୟ ନେଇଛନ୍ତି ୫ କୁନି ଓରାଙ୍ଗ ଉଟାନ୍ । ଜଙ୍ଗଲରେ ଜନ୍ମ…ଜଙ୍ଗଲ ହିଁ ଥିଲା ଦୁନିଆ। ଗଛ, ଲତା, ପତ୍ର ଆଉ ମା’ର ଛାତି ।

No mother, but a doll for company. Some childhoods grow up in forests, while others grow up among humans. But these five little orangutans are far from the forest, far from their mother and far from their own world. Once, their tiny hands may have held their mother’s fingers; today, they hold dolls instead. At an age when they should be resting against their mother’s chest, they are now inside an enclosed space. Rescued from Bhograi in Balasore, the five baby orangutans have found shelter at Nandankanan. Born in the forest, their world was once trees, leaves, creepers and their mother’s warmth.
