Bhubaneswar Mayor Sulochana Das visited major Durga Puja pandals across the city and its outskirts, offering prayers and seeking the blessings of Maa Durga. During her visits, she reviewed puja management, sanitation and safety arrangements for devotees.

The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has imposed restrictions on plastic use at puja pandals. Special teams are conducting daily inspections of food stalls near the pandals to ensure proper checks and hygiene.

Temporary ponds have been dug along the Kuakhai, Daya and Bhargavi rivers for the immersion of Maa Durga's idols. Lighting arrangements and devotee safety have been given priority at the immersion sites. The BMC has undertaken these measures to ensure clean, safe and environmentally friendly celebrations. Senior reporter Arun Sahu spoke to the BMC Mayor about the arrangements.
