One of the prime accused in the Pitas Panda murder case, Madan Dalai, will no longer receive treatment at MKCG Medical College and Hospital. After remaining in the Orthopaedics Department for more than three months, the court directed that he be discharged and shifted to Berhampur Circle Jail as he reportedly refused further medical treatment. Earlier, the court had ordered his treatment and surgery at another government hospital after issues arose regarding his continued treatment at MKCG.

Although MKCG authorities had planned to shift Madan Dalai to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, his lawyer challenged the move, stating that prior approval from SCB had not been obtained. Both the defence and the prosecution filed petitions before the court regarding his treatment.

After hearing the matter, the court observed that Madan Dalai was unwilling to undergo treatment and directed the hospital to discharge him and send him back to Berhampur Circle Jail. As a result, he will return to jail without undergoing the proposed surgery.
