Cuttack is gearing up for the 36th Ravan Dahan celebration, scheduled to be held today at the Lower Baliyatra Ground. The event, organised by the Barabati Sarbadharma Sanskritik Parishad, is witnessing extensive preparations. An approximately 80-foot-tall effigy of Ravana will be set ablaze at midnight.

The celebration symbolises the victory of good over evil, truth over falsehood and justice over injustice. Seating arrangements have been made for around 10,000 people. Artists from different parts of Odisha will present colourful cultural programmes in the evening, while spectacular fireworks are expected to entertain the audience.

According to the organisers, BJP Odisha president Manmohan Samal will attend the event as the chief guest this year.
