Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena has reacted strongly to the online taxi drivers’ protest in the capital city. The agitation turned tense at the busy Master Canteen Square, which reportedly witnessed a prolonged confrontation during the protest. Meena questioned the protesters’ continuation of the agitation beyond the permitted period, asking, “Does a thief ask for permission?” The remark comes amid police action during the protest, which reportedly involved stone-pelting and disruption of traffic. Current reports state that police had permitted the protesters to demonstrate for one day, while the agitation continued beyond that period.
