An elephant has been kept in captivity for the past four months at a wildlife rescue centre in Kanachhinda, at the foothills of Similipal. The Forest Department has confined the tusker in a wooden enclosure after it was reportedly involved in the deaths of 10 people. The elephant now spends its days alone inside the enclosure, eating when food is provided and sleeping there afterwards. Instead of roaming freely in the forest, the tusker has been living in captivity for four months.
