India-Pakistan Warships Collide Near Oman; New Delhi Lodges Strong Protest

An Indian Navy warship and a Pakistan Navy vessel came into close contact in international waters in the North Arabian Sea, around 220 km east of Oman, on September 15. According to Indian sources, the Pakistani vessel approached the Indian warship at high speed and manoeuvred in an unsafe manner, leading to the collision. No major damage was reported. India has summoned Pakistan’s Charge d’Affaires in New Delhi and lodged a strong protest over what it called the “unacceptable and unprofessional” conduct of Pakistani naval units.
