A commotion broke out at the Kantabanji Tahasil Office in Balangir district after Mayabati Kumbhar of Kandei village under Turekela block allegedly threw a shoe at businessman Shyam Agrawal while he was working inside the Registry Office. Kantabanji police were informed and took both Mayabati and Shyam to the police station.

The incident is linked to an ongoing land dispute between the two. The source states that Mayabati had sold two acres of land to Shyam for ₹3.75 lakh in front of the Tahasildar following an earlier dispute. Mayabati has alleged that she did not receive the money after the registration, while Shyam claims that the entire amount was paid.
