A flood alert is emerging along the Mahanadi as water levels rise following the opening of 14 gates of the Gangrel Dam in Chhattisgarh.
With increased water flow into the Mahanadi, 24 gates of the Hirakud Dam have now been opened to release water downstream. The rising river level has raised concerns in several low-lying areas of Odisha.
