Nayagarh Woman Allegedly Strangled to Death by Husband, In-Laws

Lakshmipriya Barik of Adabandha village under Itamati Police Station in Nayagarh district was allegedly strangled to death inside her in-laws’ house, according to her family members. They have alleged that her husband Danda Pani Barik, along with her mother-in-law and father-in-law, locked the door and strangled her. Lakshmipriya had married Danda Pani six years ago and, according to her family, had faced harassment since the day after the marriage. She has a son and a daughter and had been staying at her parental home for the past few months. Her family has lodged a complaint at Itamati Police Station.
