The National Medical Commission (NMC) has introduced new guidelines to restrict self-promotional activities by doctors. Under the new rules, doctors cannot use patients for publicity, make misleading claims such as “No. 1 Doctor” or “Best Doctor,” or attract patients through fake reviews, AI-generated promotional content, and false claims of medical success. The move aims to protect patients from misleading medical advertising, preserve trust in the doctor-patient relationship, and prevent healthcare from becoming a tool for commercial promotion.
