Ahead of the Odisha bandh tomorrow, the Nikhila Utkal Auto Chalaka Sangha has decided to keep auto-rickshaw services suspended. Padman Samal, general secretary of the association, said the decision was taken keeping in view the possibility of picketing and vandalism during the bandh and to prevent damage to autos. The Odisha bandh has been called for October 8 by the INDIA bloc over issues including the amended MMDR Act, alleged textbook errors and the SIR exercise.

Padman Samal said, “There will be picketing and vandalism everywhere, so keeping the possible damage in mind, we will stop auto services.”

The bandh is scheduled for 6 AM to 6 PM, while auto-rickshaw services are expected to remain suspended during the shutdown.
