Durga Puja celebrations in Odisha are likely to get relief from heavy rain, with light showers forecast during Saptami and Ashtami and dry weather expected on Dashami. Weather scientists have indicated that a low-pressure area may form over the southeast Bay of Bengal around October 13.

A cyclonic circulation over the Gulf of Thailand and adjoining areas is likely to move into the Andaman Sea region soon. However, unfavourable atmospheric and oceanic conditions may prevent the system from intensifying beyond a low-pressure area. Odisha is likely to experience cloudy weather on October 13 and 14.

Light to moderate rainfall is likely in coastal Odisha from October 16 to 19, particularly in Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Cuttack, Khordha, Ganjam and Gajapati districts. Rainfall is expected to decrease around October 20, with dry weather likely in many places.
