Navratri celebrations have begun across Odisha, with devotees thronging prominent Shakti Peethas to offer prayers to Goddess Durga. At Sarala Temple in Jhankad, Jagatsinghpur, rituals began at 4 AM with the opening of the temple doors, followed by worship throughout the day. Cuttack Chandi and Gadachandi temples witnessed elaborate Shodasha Upachar puja, Chandi Path and Homa Yajna. At Banki’s Maa Charchika temple, the Goddess appeared in Singhabahini Besha after a ritual bath with 108 pots of fragrant water from the Mahanadi.

At Maa Biraja Temple in Jajpur, devotees gathered for darshan and the traditional Vijaya Rath began its journey. Maa Majhighariani Temple in Rayagada witnessed enthusiasm for the Goddess’s golden attire, while Maa Tara Tarini in Ganjam welcomed devotees as the Goddess appeared in Shailaputri Besha on the first day. An Akhanda Deepa will burn for nine days at Tara Tarini and Bhattarika Temple in Badamba-Narsinghpur.

During the nine days of Navratri, Goddess Durga is worshipped in nine forms, beginning with Shailaputri and concluding with Siddhidatri on the ninth day.
