Prisoner’s Death In Malkangiri Jail Sparks Tension; Family Alleges Murder

ମାଲକାନଗିରି ଜେଲରେ କଏଦୀ ମୃତ୍ୟୁରୁ ଉତ୍ତେଜନା। ମେଡିକାଲ ପରିସରରେ ପୋଲିସ-ପବ୍ଲିକ୍ ମୁହାଁମୁହିଁ। ମୃତ କଏଦୀ ହେଲେ ଲକିନାଥ ବେହେରା। ପରିବାର ଲୋକ ଲକିନାଥଙ୍କୁ ହତ୍ୟା ଅଭିଯୋଗ ଆଣିଛନ୍ତି। ଏପରିକି ମେଡିକାଲରୁ ଜୋର ଜବରଦସ୍ତ ଶବ ନେଇଯାଇଛନ୍ତି। ଘଟଣାକୁ ନେଇ ମାଲକାନଗିରିରେ ଉତ୍ତେଜନାପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ପରିସ୍ଥିତି ଲାଗି ରହିଛି। ମୃତକଙ୍କ ସମ୍ପର୍କୀୟ ଓ ପରିବାର ପକ୍ଷରୁ ୩୨୬ ନମ୍ବର ଜାତୀୟ ରାଜପଥ ଅବରୋଧ ଚେତାବନୀ ଦିଆଯାଇଥିବା ବେଳେ ପୋଲିସ ଉତ୍ତ୍ୟକ୍ତ ଲୋକଙ୍କୁ ବୁଝାସୁଝା କରିଛି। ଏହାପରେ ପରିସ୍ଥିତି ଶାନ୍ତ ପଡିଥିବା ସୂଚନା ମିଳିଛି। ଦୁଷ୍କର୍ମ ମାମଲାରେ ୪ ମାସ ହେବ ମାଲକାନଗିରି ଜେଲ୍ ରେ ଥିଲେ ଲକିନାଥ ବେହେରା। ଆଜି ସେ ଅସୁସ୍ଥ ହେବା ପରେ ଜିଲ୍ଲା ମୁଖ୍ୟ ହସ୍ପିଟାଲ ଅଣା ଯାଇଥିଲା। ତେବେ ସେଠାରେ ଡାକ୍ତର ତାଙ୍କୁ ମୃତ ଘୋଷଣା କରିଥିଲେ।

Tension prevailed in Malkangiri following the death of prisoner Lakinath Behera at Malkangiri Jail. His family members have alleged that he was murdered and claimed that his body was forcibly taken away from the medical premises. Relatives and family members also warned of blocking National Highway 326, following which police tried to pacify the agitated people. The situation later reportedly became calm. Lakinath Behera had been lodged in Malkangiri Jail for the past four months in connection with a sexual assault case. After he fell ill today, he was taken to the District Headquarters Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
