Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls has been conducted 11 times earlier in the country, and the 12th exercise is currently underway, said Rajya Sabha MP Sujeet Kumar. He said the primary objective is to ensure that genuine voters remain on the electoral rolls while removing the names of deceased persons and duplicate voters.

Sujeet Kumar said that if genuine voters are left out during the process, they can get their names included by following the prescribed Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). Responding to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's repeated allegations of vote theft, he questioned why Gandhi was not approaching the court if the allegations were true, adding that evidence would be required to substantiate the claims.

He described SIR as a constitutional process and urged the Opposition to bring forward any evidence of wrongdoing.
