Devotees visiting the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri can now get relief from heat and humidity as the Nata Mandap has been equipped with a VRF air-conditioning system. The cooling facility is aimed at making darshan more comfortable, especially when the temple witnesses heavy crowds.

But the bigger question is when devotees will get an organised queue-darshan facility. IIT Bhubaneswar has been roped in to develop a pilot model featuring elevated ramps. Under the proposed arrangement, five ramps could allow around 50 devotees to have darshan simultaneously, with an estimated capacity of 8,000–10,000 devotees per hour.
