Many eligible senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PwDs) in Odisha are reportedly waiting for years to receive government assistance. According to the report, administrative procedures have delayed the disbursal of Social Security Pensions, leaving several beneficiaries without financial support despite meeting the eligibility criteria. In some cases, people above the age of 70 have not received any pension, while others aged 80 are reportedly receiving only ₹1,000.
The report also highlights the plight of families awaiting disability assistance and raises questions over whether administrative procedures or existing rules are responsible for the delay in extending benefits to eligible beneficiaries.
