An Indonesian passenger vessel, Virgo Transport 8, carrying 241 people lost contact in the Java Sea while travelling from Surabaya in East Java to Banjarmasin in South Kalimantan. The vessel departed Surabaya at around 10:13 am on Saturday, but contact was reportedly lost around 2 am on Sunday after it encountered bad weather. Its last known location was around 148 km from a pier in Banjarmasin.
