The first day of the Odisha Assembly Monsoon Session witnessed uproar over the MMDR Amendment Act and alleged errors in school textbooks. Soon after the Question Hour began following obituary references, BJD and Congress MLAs entered the well of the House and raised slogans, forcing the Speaker to adjourn the proceedings twice. BJD members demanded the resignation of the School and Mass Education Minister over the textbook issue, while Congress sought withdrawal of the MMDR amendment, citing possible revenue loss to Odisha. BJD MLAs later marched to Lower PMG and joined an agitation by the Biju Chhatra Janata Dal and Biju Yuva Janata Dal. BJP MLA Irasish Acharya said more than 50,000 corrected books had already been distributed and that the government was ready for discussion on both issues. Amid the protests, four Bills were introduced in the House.
