Third Flood Wave Surges Through Mahanadi as Hirakud Releases Water Through 28 Gates

ମହାନଦୀରେ ଆସୁଛି ବନ୍ୟା। ପଶ୍ଚିମ ଓଡ଼ିଶା ଓ ଉପରମୁଣ୍ଡ ଛତିଶଗଡ଼ରେ ପ୍ରବଳ ବର୍ଷା ପରେ ଫୁଲୁଛି ମହାନଦୀ। ସ୍ଥିତିର ମୁକାବିଲା ଲାଗି ହୀରାକୁଦରେ ୨୮ ଗେଟ୍ ଦେଇ ଡ୍ୟାମରୁ ନିଷ୍କାସନ ହେଉଛି ବନ୍ୟାଜଳ। ହୀରାକୁଦ ଜଳଭଣ୍ଡାରରୁ ପାଣି ଛାଡିବା ଫଳରେ ମହାନଦୀରେ ତୃତୀୟ ବନ୍ୟା ଜଳ ପ୍ରବାହିତ ହେଉଛି। ପ୍ରବଳ ଗର୍ଜନ କରି ତଳମୁଣ୍ଡକୁ ପ୍ରବାହିତ ହେଉଛି ପାଣି। ଫଳରେ ମହାନଦୀ ଓ ଏହାର ଶାଖା ନଦୀଗୁଡ଼ିକରେ ଛୋଟ ଧରଣର ବନ୍ୟା ସ୍ଥିତି ଉପୁଜିବାର ଆଶଙ୍କା ଦେଖାଦେଇଛି।

The Mahanadi is swelling after heavy rainfall in western Odisha and the upper catchment areas of Chhattisgarh. To manage the rising water, floodwater is being released from the Hirakud Reservoir through 28 gates, triggering the third flood wave in the Mahanadi.
