Vedanta Group Chairman Anil Agarwal has proposed setting up a 1,000-bed hospital in western Odisha after meeting Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. The company has also proposed expanding its Jharsuguda smelter by 1 million tonnes, with an investment of ₹1 lakh crore and over 2 lakh direct and indirect employment opportunities, according to the source. Vedanta has further proposed a 30-lakh-tonne annual aluminium smelter in Dhenkanal and a 60-lakh-tonne annual alumina refinery in Rayagada. The Chief Minister said efforts will be intensified to implement the projects and help establish Odisha as a global aluminium production hub.
