A wedding was halted before the marriage rituals were completed at Trinath Temple in Jaraka, under Dharmasala police station limits in Jajpur district. The groom, Bibhudendu Padhi, was allegedly attempting to marry another woman while his divorce case was still pending in court. The incident triggered high drama at the temple, where locals reportedly stopped him before police arrived and took him to the police station.

According to the complaint, Suchismita Panda, daughter of Chakradhar Panda of Madhupur in Sundarpada, Bhubaneswar, married Bibhudendu Padhi, son of Golak Padhi from Pattamundai in Kendrapara district, on November 24, 2017. The couple have an eight-year-old daughter.

Questions have been raised over how the groom allegedly attempted a second marriage while his divorce case remained pending. The full facts are expected to emerge after the police investigation.
