After an eight-year gap, student union elections returned to Odisha’s campuses, with newly elected representatives taking an oath and pledging to work for institutional development. However, alleged excessive interference by major political parties led to clashes at some campuses. As a result, results were withheld in some places, while oath-taking ceremonies were cancelled at others. The election outcomes have triggered a political tussle among parties across the state.
