A centuries-old Rath Yatra tradition is staring at uncertainty due to the unavailability of wood required for constructing the chariots. Although preparations for the festival are underway, organisers are reportedly unable to procure the wood needed for building new chariots.

While new chariots could not be constructed, the existing ones have become completely dilapidated over time. As a result, concerns are growing that the historic Rath Yatra, a tradition continuing for nearly 200 years, may not be held this year. Questions are also being raised over the alleged lack of administrative attention towards preserving this ancient tradition.
