A road connecting Rugudi to Kalamanga in Laidapada Panchayat of Joda block, Keonjhar, is in poor condition despite ₹10.72 crore being sanctioned from DMF funds in 2021. The project, targeted for completion within a year, remains incomplete even after the deadline has passed by four years. Thick layers of moram, potholes and muddy stretches during rain are making travel difficult for locals, including school students, farmers and traders, while ambulance movement is also affected. Locals have raised allegations of poor-quality work and questioned the delay. The district administration is said to have blacklisted the contractor and directed the RD Department to invite a fresh tender for the remaining work. The Champua RD Department JE said the tender was cancelled as the contractor was not carrying out the work and the project cannot progress until a new tender is completed.
